Hi, my name is Shannon Mewha, I have worked in the childcare/ inclusion support industry for 8 years. I’m extremely passionate about nurturing young minds for our future generations. I view all children as confident and capable learners. I provide warm, supportive and educational environments for children to flourish and reach their full potential.
For EDES104 task 1, we are required to use the Gibbs reflective cycle to critically reflect on two driving questions. The two driving questions I chose to explore are, "Reflection 1 - Is it sustainable that we continue on our current path of technological development?" and "Reflection 2 -What is the impact of technology on education and on us?".
Both of these questions highly resonated with me, as an early childhood educator, being a parent and studying online to further my personal development. As a student who can only attend online classes it has been a huge incentive being able to complete my degree solely online with all resources being supplied digitally. As a teacher I can see both positives and negatives in the education system, on one hand it has provided an immense amount of teaching strategies, collaborative games and a use of valuable resources to enhance both learning and teaching. On the other hand I’ve seen it become a huge distraction, safety concern and disadvantage to behaviour and learning. As a parent I struggle to understand what the future holds for a digital future and the detrimental effects it can have on self-regulation, self-worth and sustainability. I have reflected on my personal experiences, beliefs and thoughts through a variety of perspectives and reputable sources from our unit readings. This helped to form both my reflections and annotated re-write of my personal and authentic articulation, in a post digital world, through range of lenses.
